National Heritage Day 2011 As noted by all, we had a 150% improvement on attendance from last year with 5 cars plus Dave in Mudgee…. And they all turned up on time! CMC couldn’t have organized better weather – sunshine all day and none of the predicted wind gusts. An amazing day out. We met, as planned at Castle Hill; enjoyed morning tea – thanks Jan for the muffins! Very easy navigation straight up old Northern Road all the way to the Wiseman’s Ferry for a comfort stop and more sunshine in a beautiful park.
With plenty of time to enjoy the views, we stopped at Hawkings Lookout on the way back to Windsor. With only minor detours (thanks Neville & Christine!) we found – well, most of us found – the lovely Macquarie Park where we met up with the CMC representative plus members of the Humber Club, Hillman Club and assorted others. Very friendly. Neil & Jan relied on the GPS for navigation so they arrived a little while later. Some utilized the outdoor brasserie for fish and chips while the rest stayed with the cars for a very comfy and civilized picnic.
A relaxed drive home concluded a really wonderful day touring in a part of Sydney most of us hadn’t visited in a very long time. Neville brought Christine in his sedan; Warren & Michael Degnan toured in the Lotus Gemini, Neil & Jan gave the grey GT an outing, Bob Bailey’s sedan didn’t miss a beat while Tom & I had a great day in the orange car.
